The Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) is a United States Department of the Navy program designed to provide the majority of information technology services for the entire Department, including the United States Navy and Marine Corps. As of 2020, NMCI included more than 363,000 computers, serving more than 707,000 sailors, Marines and civilians in 620 locations in the continental United States, Hawaii, and Japan, making it the largest internal computer network in the world.
impact
Apto Solutions began providing services to NMCI in 2007 after they successfully executed a proof of concept (POC) with Cap Gemini. The POC demonstrated that Apto could manage the disposition of excess computing equipment more effectively than their current disposition process.
Over the past 15 years, contracts evolved from NMCI to Next Generation Enterprise Network Solution (NGEN) to End User Hardware (EUHW). Since 2007, Apto has sold over 1 million end user computing devices generating over $70MM in value recovery. Most importantly, Apto has been instrumental in ensuring no sensitive data has been compromised. Supporting the Department of Defense is a unique challenge that requires flawless execution.
